Burton Albion to help promote anti-domestic violence campaign

Burton Albion has pledged to help promote a national anti-domestic violence campaign when it faces AFC Wimbledon in two weeks time.

The club will release 200 white balloons before the start of the match to represent the number of children in the country who were victims of domestic violence this year.

According to whiteribboncampaign.co.uk, the players will also warm up in white ribbon T-shirts as part of their pledge to never to 'commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.'

There are plenty of events being organised for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25th November. The events could well be of interest to divorce solicitors who are familiar with cases involving domestic violence.

Speaking to The Burton Mail, East Staffordshire Borough Council member David Leese thanked the League 2 club for supporting the campaign.

He said: "East Staffordshire is proud to have White Ribbon town status and the council continues to do what it can to raise awareness of the support and help available to victims of domestic violence.

"We are very grateful to all the players and staff at Burton Albion for their support once again. Even if your message reaches just one victim who managed to get help, or one offender who sees the error of their ways, then it is worth it."
