Finance and Money Issues

The ex-wife of a property tycoon has received a mystery cash donation to help her continue her fight for maintenance from her former husband.

Michelle Young, 47, has used the money from an unidentified benefactor to hire a top divorce lawyer as she bids to prove that her husband can still afford to give out maintenance payments of £27,500 a month.

Her ex-husband Scot Young, who made his fortune as a deal "fixer" for Russian oligarchs, claims that he is unable to shell out the payments since a poor investment left him "well and truly bankrupt."

Mrs Young believes the money has been salted away. Her fresh attempts at trying to prove this show the importance of hiring experienced divorce solicitors in high stakes cases such as these.

According to The Press Association, she had been given permission to instruct a forensic accountant back in 2008 but did not have the funds to do so until the mystery donor stepped in recently.

She has claimed that she will reveal the identity of the benefactor once the court case has come to its final conclusion.

In the couple's latest court appearance, Mrs Young's new solicitor described her as "on benefits" and living in "modest accommodation," according to The Daily Express.
