Spring into fun activities with the family in London

With the lighter evenings and occasional warm sunny spell, you may be inspired to plan some adventures to enjoy with the family during spring time. The arrival of spring-time here in London witnesses a change of pace with people keen to make the most of the longer days.


Come rain or shine we have selected some activities to enjoy with your family in and around London. With offices from one end of the city to the other, we think we know what we’re talking about! So why not take to the outdoors and see what London has to offer for you and your family this spring?

Parks and Gardens 
You don’t need to escape to the countryside in order to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. There are parks and gardens throughout London where you can take the children along to enjoy the play areas, open grass and activities available.

Canbury Gardens in Kingston Upon Thames is an ideal area for families to enjoy; the green flag award-winning park is within easy walking distance from Kingston town centre and covers and area of 14.5 acres. With a playground, public toilets, parking, pavilion and café, tennis courts and many more facilities, Canbury Gardens is the ideal place to take your family this spring.

Shakespeare’s Globe
Open from the end of April, the authentic Shakespearean theatre includes works by Shakespeare and his contemporaries such as Christopher Marlowe. Located on the bank of the River Thames, the wooden theatre has covered seating with out a roof over the central stage area, so you all may need to wrap up warm!

There is a host of other activities specifically for families and children to enjoy, including and exhibition and tour, live demonstrations and Globe Education which is the largest theatre education department in the country.

The London Marathon
The world’s biggest fundraising event will be taking place on April 24th 2016. Why not take the family along to one of London’s famous sights that the runners will be passing to cheer them on.

Visit Inner City farms
Experiencing farming right in the heart of the city and provide your children with the opportunity to get up close to a range of farmyard animals. There are several inner city farms scattered around The City, including Hackney City Farm who also provide the opportunity to smell and plan vegetables and other food plants, and learn the skills to live a healthier life.

Heritage
Why not explore some of the city’s fantastic heritage for the day? Somerset House in the heart of London has wonderful courtyard fountains for your children to run around and cool off. The historic building is easily accessible via public transport and hosts regular learning and events that allow you and your family to explore Somerset House through exhibitions and displays. There are also cost-free guided tours available where you can discover evidence of Tudor and Georgian history.

Family Days Out In Kensington
Kensington boasts a wide range of free museums and parks that allow you and your family to enjoy hands-on learning. With plenty of museums to explore south of Kensington, including the Science Museum and Natural History Museum there’s enough to fill an entire day. Kensington Gardens is also an ideal area for a picnic lunch with plenty of areas to play afterwards, including the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground.
